Title of Practice: JV Mantra: Green, Clean& Happiness
Context:
Green initiatives, cleanliness drives, and promotion of Stress-free life are creative and problem-solving initiatives of the university since its inceptionwhich are not only aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sustainable but also conducive to the health, well-being, and academic success of all campus community & stakeholders.
With the Establishment of the University when it was completely a Barren land, the University had initiated Green, Clean and happiness Practices to sensitize student community for Environment Protection and Sustainability.
In the face of global environmental challenges, Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s university has progressively recognized their role in promoting sustainability and driving positive change. Tree plantation transformed our university campus into a lush green campus. At Present more than 80% of the University area is covered with greenery including grass, trees, poly house and herbal garden with Ornamental Plants. Our campus community, fostering an environment of greenery, cleanliness, and stress-free learning is paramount to promoting the well-being and success of our students. Through a series of intentional practices and initiatives, we aim to create a campus that not only prioritizes academic excellence but also nurtures the holistic development of each individual.
Objectives:
The objectives of Green, Clean & Happiness practices are as follows:
- Environmental Sustainability: To Promote environmental sustainability and to minimize the campus’s ecological footprint, conserve natural resources, and protect local ecosystems.
- Community Engagement: To Engage students, faculty, staff, and local communities to maintain a clean and green campus environment, fostering a sense of responsibility among all stakeholders.
- Health and Safety: To Create a safe and healthy campus environment by reducing pollution and minimizing health risks associated with waste accumulation and environmental degradation.
- Educational Opportunities: Provide opportunities for experiential learning and environmental education through hands-on participation in green initiatives and cleanliness drives, raising awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
- Beautification and Aesthetics: Enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus through landscaping, gardening, and beautification projects, creating inviting and inspiring spaces for learning, relaxation, and socialization.
- Sensitized towards community responsibilities: To Foster a sense of pride and showcasing our commitment to environmental responsibility and cleanliness, University successfully sensitizing campus and local communities for sustainable practices and community engagement activities .
- Cost Savings: Reduce operational costs associated with waste management, landscaping, and maintenance by implementing sustainable practices that promote resource efficiency and waste reduction.
- Local and Global Impact: Contribute to global efforts to address climate change and environmental degradation by demonstrating leadership in sustainable campus management practices and inspiring others to adopt similar initiatives in their own communities.
Practice:
Green Initiatives: University has established lush gardens and green spaces across the campus, providing students with serene environments for relaxation, study, and contemplation. These areas serve as sanctuaries for connecting with nature, fostering a sense of peace and rejuvenation amidst the academic hustle and bustle.
Sustainable Landscaping: Our landscaping practices prioritize sustainability by using local plants, local water & local soil, implementing water-saving techniques and minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. By embracing eco-friendly landscaping, we reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to the preservation of local biodiversity.
- University lush green campus having variety ofplants keeping us happy & healthy and make environment free from air pollution.
- Plastic is completely banned in the entire University campus. Recycled Cloth bags are used by all students & staff members instead of Plastic bags.
- Limited use of Paper and If used, then it is recycled to make Handmade Paper for reuse.
- Mobiles are strictly prohibited in campus premises including hostels. Use of Laptops & Computers are accessible in an authorized manner.
- Limited use of vehicles within the campus. The university has well maintained pedestrians’ Friendly pathways covered with greenery and promotes use of bicycles.
- All administrative offices work through ERP, online Portals and e- mails.
- The solar energy for streetlights & water heaters to generate hot water, saving costly electricity & use of gas.
- To minimize water and energy in laundries, the University have a Centralized Laundry system for washing clothes and ironing clothes of all students and staff. The rinse wastewater reused for irrigation and minimized electricity consumption.
- Garbage bins are installed in various points to collect waste for recycling purpose under University Startup Punar Janam -Ready to Serve Again
- Controlled flame burner are used in kitchen which provides Safety & LPG Savings and make environment pollution free.
- Use of wood boilers (made through recycling of waste) and gas generated from biogas in university mess (with NOC from Pollution Control Board) and less use of LPG in kitchen.
- A Unique plantation program has been initiated by university for 'planting of saplings’ in University on the occasion of Birthday of any students/staff in University’s established ‘‘My Birthday Garden''& “Herbal Garden” to promote green practices.
- On April 21, 2008, University has established, keeping this in mind, Universitycelebrates ''JV-Mantra Green Clean Happiness '' Monthly Celebration Daty on 21st of every month by conducting plantation drives, , cleanliness drives, Happy sessions and waste management activities.
- The University has also included Environmental Studies (EVS) as a university compulsory course since its inception 2008 to enhance Green Practices. Students are given classroom series and practical exposure related to green practices.
We empower students to take an active role in cultivating greenery on campus through student-led clubsfostering a deeper appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship.
Clean Practice:
- Cleanliness Drives : Regular cleanliness drives and public awareness programmes are organized to engage students, faculty, and staff in maintaining the cleanliness of our campus and surrounding villages. These activities not only promote environmental responsibility but also foster a sense of pride and ownership in our shared campus community.
- Waste Management Activities: We are committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling through comprehensive programs that educate and empower the campus community. Recycling bins are strategically placed throughout campus.the students, staff practices to convert useless products into the useful productscientificallyon recycling concept and create money-making projects & for healthy environment and students encourages to awareness about the importance of waste reduction and proper disposal practices and cleanliness drives. Our NSS, Scout Guide, Student Council and all other students under their CDA/UBA activities take part in cleanliness and waste management activities throughout the year .
- Rainwater Harvesting: All open grounds have a Rainwater Harvesting System which provide the proper solution from collection of water in tanks.Rainwater from the roof top is connected through pipes. From open areas water is moved by constructing slope structures towards tanks. In tanks rainwater is purified with the help of sand and it is directed towards the open well through Rainwater Harvesting structures. After filtration the water pours in grounds for recharge the earth.
Happiness Practice:
Students enrolling at the University are mentored right from the beginning on various issues including spirituality, punctuality, regularity, behavior & ethics, curricular, extra-curricular activities and research.
Comfortable living Environment: University provides highly safe secure, clean and variety of accommodation in multistoring hostels having Air Conditioner and Air-Cooled facilities with all the basic and ultra - modern facilities like mess, reading room, games, medical facility, communication facility Wi-Fi internet and recreation facilities, electricity & power backup under the full security so that students can live here in a homely way.
Green Environment and Large Spaces for Recreation: University Green- Clean environment and dedicated recreational spaces provides ample opportunities to the students to rejuvenate and refresh their minds by involving in activities like meditation, yoga, gym, dance, sports, discotheque, beautiful green parks, etc. These spaces provide opportunities for stress relief, relaxation, and mental rejuvenation amidst the academic demands of student life.
Counseling and Support Services: Comprehensive counseling and support services are readily accessible to students, helping with academic, personal, and emotional challenges. By prioritizing mental health and well-being, we create a supportive environment where students feel valued, heard, and empowered to thrive.
University conduct workshops on stress management, peace, happiness, time management, self-care, and healthy living etc.
Addiction Free Environment:Mobiles are strictly prohibited in the campus to make students free from mobile addiction. We provide secure monitoring & pre-identified environment for our students through providing communication facility to the students only on 20 authorized registered numbers which are verified by their parents as mobile phones are prohibited in the University Campus. Use of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Non-Vegetarian food items in any form are strictly prohibited in entire University Campus in any manner.
Stress Free Environment: Early walk-up, listening & chanting of Mantras, Engaged in Yoga, Meditation, Gym activities, recreational activities for good health and refreshing body promotes stress free life . University has adopted the respectful gesture of greeting by Saying 'Namaste'. Then Academic day starts with the National anthem followed by smiling & happy session of 2-3 minutes including birthday of classmate in a particular day and ends with National-Song.
Organize Events &Celebrations: University take time out from regular academic activities and celebratesthe lesser-known days along with the national holidays. Birthday Celebrations, Students parties, festival celebrations, academic fest and other happy and joy activities including outdoor tours, Fun games, Competitions etc. are organized from time to time.

- University is well recognized as a participating Institute Under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan since 2018 for conduction and promotion of Green & Sustainable Village Development.
- Swacchata Ranking Awards 2019 'RANKED 8TH' amongst the cleanest Higher Education Institutions in India in the category of 'Residential Universities for ''Swacchata Ranking Awards 2019' contest. The University Awarded for being the most Hygienic & Ecologically responsible Green Campus in India by the Hon'ble Secretary, Ministry for Human Resource Development (MHRD) ShriR. Subrahmanyam Ji in New Delhi on December 3, 2019.
- One District One Green Champion 2021 Award- . University is awarded the title of One District One Green Champion in Jaipur District Award 2021 for being the most sustainable Green Campus in Jaipur district awarded by Government of India.
- Green Ranking 2023- Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women's University Jaipur ranked and rated with Diamond Band (A+) ranked by the board of R. World Institutional Ranking for Sustainable Institutions of India, within the Diamond Band (A+ Grade), in The Green Rankings 2023
- University has been recognized as Swacchata Action Plan Institution working for sanitation Hygiene, Waste/Water/Energy Management and Greenery recognized by Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education, MHRD Govt. of India
- 100% of our passing students have successfully earned credits in Environment and Disaster Management studies.
- Our project proposal entitled “ Post Harvest Management & Entrepreneurship aspects of medicinal & aromatic plants” with Grant of 6.0 Lakhfor the year 19-20 & other project proposal entitled “Exploration and Documentation of Ethno-medicinal practices of Rural & Tribal population of Rajasthan for the year 21-22 was approved with Grant of 9.5 Lakh by National Medicinal Plants Board.
Environmental promotional activities
- Tree planting initiatives of the University are the hallmark for environmental promotion in rural areas. In the Academic Session 2018-23 University has planted more than 10000 medicinal plants in Campus and in Nearby villages & schools to promote healthy living. Such plantation also focusses on restoring deforested or degraded landscapes in nearby rural areas and promote greenery . By engaging university’s students, faculty, and local communities, university gives its best efforts to create a sense of shared responsibility for environmental conservation among local community.
- University conduct agriculture mentorship programmes to encourage and support sustainable agricultural practices in rural communities for which University provide training and resources to local farmers on organic farming techniques, crop rotation, and the use of environmentally friendly pesticides and fertilizers. These initiatives not only promote food security but also reduce the environmental impact of conventional farming practices.
University has granted financial Aid of 175000 /- under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan for implementation of villages development plan in the acadmeic year 202-21 - By adopting nearby rural villages, University has succeeded in identifying their specific needs and challenges, University agriculture students & staff members worked collaboratively to implement solutions that foster environmental sustainability, such as providing clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and promoting organic farming practices. These programs empower local communities and create long-lasting positive impacts on both their well-being and the environment.
- University Happiness Practice is evidence of transformative and sustainable growth of our students in versatile fields and play a crucial role in improving their emotional, physical, social and behavioral wellbeing by reducing stress and increasing happiness and performance.
Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
- The geographical conditions are not very favourable due to fluoridated water and infertile land which hinders the development of many green & clean initiatives.
- Waste management is considered to be one of the most critical environmental challenges on a worldwide basis. Wastes, if not treated properly, are highly susceptible to fungal and bacterial growth thereby leading to various diseases.
- Maintenance cost of waste treatment plants such as STP, Paper recycling plant, Bio treatment plant etc. require monetary expenses.
- We face problems of funds, infrastructure, certain equipments, and manpower in running or implementing some of the above-mentioned programmes.

Title of Practice: Fostering Holistic Student Growth: Maximizing Engagement in Co-curricular, Extra-curricular and Community Development Initiatives
Objectives:
- Encourage vibrant student participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to broaden skills and personal interests.
- Create a dynamic platform for students to showcase talents, creativity, and leadership capabilities.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration through active group participation in various activities.
- Improve students' overall well-being by engaging in sports, arts, and recreational activities.
- Inspire community contribution through social service and initiatives for community development.
- Facilitate meaningful interaction between students and industry professionals for valuable career insights.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and self-improvement through diverse activities.
- Provide a holistic education that prepares students for real-world challenges beyond academics.
Context:
In today's education landscape, the focus is on holistic student development, extending beyond traditional academic achievements. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at JVWU play a vital role in students' journeys by providing avenues to explore interests, refine skills, and foster community responsibility. Actively involving students in these initiatives aligns with the university's mission of "Education for Community Development through Women Empowerment." Operating in a disciplined and serene environment, JVWU serves as a catalyst for cultivating interpersonal skills and social behavior, significantly contributing to fulfilling its overarching mission.
Practice:
To ensure maximum student engagement in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, University take various measures which provide adequate resources and facilities for students to pursue.
- Holistic education: To provide students with a well-rounded education that goes beyond academics and helps them to develop life skills, leadership qualities and social awareness. By participating in activities such as sports, cultural events & by working under various clubs of the University. Students learn how to communicate effectively, work in teams and collaborate. Students are encouraged to think outside the box, explore new ideas, and develop their analytical skills to become more innovative and develop their social skills, which are essential for their personal and professional growth.
- Student engagement: The focus is on actively involving students in a range of activities that cater to their diverse interests, talents, and abilities, thereby promoting their engagement and participation in all campus activities for which university promotes students by proving them opportunities to organize, manage and conduct all campus events including academic events, festival celebration, outreach programmes, Annual Fest, Academic Fest etc. To ensure 100% participating in all activities, Student Council leads all the events and activities of the university.
- Co-curricular activities: These are activities that complement the academic curriculum. These activities provide opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop their skills, and interact with peers. The University periodically organizes guest lectures, seminars, webinars, conferences, orientation programmes, training sessions and educational tours etc. Students are encouraged to participate in Co-curricular activities like seminars, conferences, educational tours so that students can learn how to learn practical knowledge, how to take responsibility and understand working culture.
- Extra-curricular activities: These are activities that are not part of the academic curriculum but are still valuable for personal growth and development which includes sports events, cultural fest like Dance, Music, Fashion, Traditional fest etc. The university always encourages students to participate in various extra-curricular activities like various sports & Cultural Competitions at inter-university/state/national or international level. With these efforts our students have successively won many awards and medals in sports and cultural events in the last 5 years.
- Community development: The focus is on encouraging students to engage in activities that benefit the wider community. This may include volunteering for social causes, participating in environmental initiatives, and promoting civic engagement. By participating in social activities, students learn the importance of social responsibility and develop a sense of empathy towards others that helps to create socially responsible citizens who are aware of their role in making a positive impact in their community.
- Collaboration and teamwork: Many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities involve working in teams, promoting collaboration and building communication skills which promote students’ overall growth & development. At JVWU many academic and non-academic events organized in association of Collaborative & Associated partners that are fully executed or implemented with the help of students.
- Career development: Participation of students in portfolio activities, internship, industrial trainings etc. provide students with opportunities to develop skills and experiences that are relevant to their future careers. Project/dissertation/industrial visits/field visits provide real-time opportunity and learning experience to students and gives ample opportunity to learn new skills as per industry and society needs. University offers programmes having components of field projects / research projects / internships etc. And also implemented MOOC courses from academic session 202-23.
Evidence of Success:
Studies have shown that participating in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that made a positive impact on student development, both academically and socially. Students who are engaged in these activities have higher academic achievement, better attendance records, and improved behaviour compared to those who are not involved.
In the last five (5) years Students got various achievements, recognition and awards by actively participating in co-curricular, extracurricular activities and outreach programmes.

- Best Short Film Production awarded by CEMCACOMMUNITY RADIO VIDEO CHALLENGE - 2020 “Punar Janam” Waste Management Practices.

- Outstanding performance of students in achieving many Records in India Book of Records, Worldwide Book of Records for their unique activities in the academic session 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24
- Highly noticeable social work done by the students of BAMS, BHMS, BNYS students during the COVID Pandemic in the Academic Session 20220-21 & 2021-22. Ours Students worked at Government PHCs with joining hands with State Government. Conducted various activities in rural communities, routine health checkups, Vaccinations Camps, Distribution of Ayurvedic & Homeopathic Immunity Boosters, Swarn prashan Dosages & Door to Door awareness campaigns.

- Our students are well trained in Self Defence, Yoga Meditation, Help Aid, Computer Skills, Disaster Management, Fashion, Fine Arts, Photography, Journalism, and Communication etc. awarded with Nation Building Community Development (NBCD) certificate after completing their Degree Program.

Active engagement in diverse activities has proven instrumental in developing crucial life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and time management among students. Additionally, community development initiatives cultivate social responsibility and civic engagement, encouraging collaboration for community improvement and raising awareness of social issues. These activities foster empathy, compassion, and understanding, evident in improved academic performance, behavior, the acquisition of vital life skills, and an enhanced sense of social responsibility.
